Chapter ten

Anna

I haven’t slept a moment since we’ve been back at Katsuo’s penthouse. He’s beside me, sleeping like the dead. I could easily slit his throat and be done with him, but I know the moment he’s gone, there are ten people waiting to take his place.

I can’t stop thinking about the shipment of women who’ve been rescued from whatever fate he was sending them to. I turn to look at him and clench my jaw as I refrain from smothering him in his sleep.

The only way I can successfully tear this down is from the inside. To listen, learn and gather all the information I can so I know who the players are once I destroy Katsuo.

The light breaks in through the window, and I know I need to get out of bed or I’ll end up killing him right now. I have to put distance between us because I can feel my rage twitching and edging toward the uncontrollable. And control is something I live by. I put on a robe and head out of the bedroom to find coffee. The chef is already in the kitchen.

He acknowledges me with a small smile and a nod. “Coffee, Miss Moore?”

“Please.” I sit on one of the barstools and wait for him to bring me a coffee. I use these moments to control my breath, and in turn, control my fury toward Katsuo.

I need to harness the rage into hurting him when the time is right. Not a moment before. “Would you like some breakfast?” John, the chef, asks when he hands me the mug.

“That would be good, thank you.”

“How does bacon and eggs sound?”

“Delicious,” I reply and smile warmly toward him.

“Miss Moore,” Tyler announces as he walks into the kitchen. “You’re up early.”

“I am.” Because I’ve been thinking of ways to kill your boss. “So are you.” I flash him a look from over my coffee mug.

“Always need to be prepared.” He walks over to one of the cabinets and removes a mug before pouring himself some coffee. “Why are you up so early?” He leans against the cabinets and sips his hot beverage.

“Always need to be prepared,” I say and smirk.

Tyler glances down at his coffee and lifts his chin only to straighten and place the mug on the counter. His reaction tells me Katsuo is walking into the kitchen.

His arms wrap around me and he kisses my temple. “Why aren’t you in bed?”

“I couldn’t sleep,” I reply as I pick at my bacon. In this moment, I’m imagining every possible way I could kill him. Would Tyler attempt to stop me? Would John? “What are you doing today?”

“I have another meeting that I’m running late for.” Katsuo looks over at Tyler. “Tyler,” he acknowledges with a grunt.

“Mr. Vang.” Tyler takes his coffee and makes a hasty exit out of the kitchen.

“Am I coming to this meeting with you? It won’t take me long to get ready.”

“No, stay here. Besides, Takumi should be arriving soon, but I’ll be back before he does.
